The water temperature is around 65-68 degrees, with the water level at about 2-3 feet below normal. The water is lightly to normally stained, which is ideal for various fishing techniques.
### Sunrise and Sunset
Sunrise today is at around 6:45 AM, and sunset will be at approximately 5:15 PM, giving you a good window for both morning and afternoon fishing.
### Fish Activity
The fall pattern is fully active, with striped bass feeding aggressively. These fish are biting well on live shad in 40-60 feet of water, suspended around 30 feet down. You can also catch them using topwaters and swimbaits in shallower areas, particularly in the 5-15 feet range on flats and the backs of creeks[5].
Largemouth bass are active on crankbaits, Texas rigged worms, and spinners, especially in less than 20 feet of water. They are also chasing shad in shallow water, making swimbaits and minnow-like jerk baits effective[5].
White bass are plentiful and biting well on live shad and slabs, particularly around midlake points and drop-offs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs near boat docks, brush piles, and timber in 8-12 feet of water[5].
Catfish are biting well on cut shad and prepared baits in 40-50 feet of water, with some good catches reported along the bottom in these depths[5].
### Best Lures and Bait
For striped bass, live shad and slabs are highly effective. Topwaters and swimbaits are also working well, especially during early morning hours when the fish are shallow. For largemouth bass, crankbaits, Texas rigged worms, and spinners are good choices. White bass are responding well to live shad and slabs. Crappie are biting on minnows and chartreuse paddle tail jigs. Catfish are best caught with cut shad and prepared baits.
### Hot Spots
One of the hot spots is around the Crappie Island, Key Ranch, and the spillway humps where you can find good stacks of hybrids and white bass. Another area is the midlake points and drop-offs along sandy flats throughout the dam area, where schooling fish are active[2][5].
Keep an eye out for diving birds, as they often mark feeding schools of fish on the surface throughout the lake. With the fall transition in full swing, Lake Texoma is offering a thrilling fishing experience, so make sure to take advantage of these conditions.
