Hey, Earl TheOther Winfrey. I listened to this interview. I took away several things from the conversation. I understand having friends and not throwing them away in dark times. I understand that blacks are criminalized by media in a way that leaves little to no room for resurrection (...we don't get those Martha Stewart makeovers). I understand that we as parents, aunts, uncles, older women, etc., have a responsibility to teach/train up our young people so that they can make informed decisions down the line. I understand how past monsters have groomed many to become present monsters because there has been no rehabilitation or renewing of the mind. I also understand that we can love people so much that we enable them because we look past the flaws and won't correct or hold them accountable for their addictions...(gossiping, sexual, alcoholism, overeating, etc.) I understand that just because you haven't seen it doesn't mean it doesn't exist. But what I understood more than anything was his friend of over 30 years said his reality was different from hers and she wouldn't send her grown journalist daughter to interview him or take her to his concerts. You know I thought of several "B-I-B-L-E (basic instructions before leaving earth)" scriptures I could have inserted for old times sake. Lol! But, I just pray that some good can come from the conversations. Miss you, Earl. Shari Addison.
