I always seem to pick up new information and findings from these podcasts. Having dealt with RMS for the last 40 years and having received the definitive diagnosis 30 years ago, knowing that MS has not been swept aside by the medical community and that new findings are giving hope and releif to my fellow sufferers, is true sorce of joy. There are so many side affects, often overlooked, it's good to know that some are now being accepted as part of the disease. In my case, I also suffer from Polyneuropathy, Hashimoto adding somewhat of a challenge to the treatment of the MS.

@ Patricia Price, There are many options to help with gait and falling. Please make your VA healthcare provider aware of this issue and your provider can make a referral to rehabilitative medicine where you can be seen by a physical therapist. Within the appointment the therapist will assess your issue, create a plan, and let you know about options appropriate for you. If you need help finding an MS provider in your area, go to https://www.va.gov/MS/About_MSCoE/Network/index_clinics.asp. Also, the National MS Society March 14th Veteran Ask an MS Expert program is on falls. I don’t think the information is up yet, but you will be able to find it at https://www.nationalmssociety.org/Resources-Support/Find-Support/Veterans-with-Multiple-Sclerosis. The program is recorded for later viewing on their YouTube site.

I listened to the podcast. I was dx in 2009 and now going through right sided numbness but I can move. My thump, point finger, right side and under right foot feel as if I slept on it/numb. Abnormal gait and sometime I might fall. What do I do? I'm 65.

Please note #headsinheadsets, the VA IMMERSIVE TECHNOLOGY TEAM is working hard across the country as a connector in healthcare in this area, I am presently being assessed for MS as a 100 pct service connected veteran here in CT, I have also found over the past year getting into a headset has benefited me tremendously, please note I use this as a tool, not as a replacement for my healthcare, there are many other available tools to include the VA APPS, all tools ! To come across your podcast this morning for the first time tops of my tool kit! Thank you so much for this, thank you Dr Romeo as well, Grace Esposito of CT VAMC.
