The Fear of God vs. The Fear of Man - Pastor Chuck Brookey The fear of men is an unhealthy fear which is a state of agitation and anxiety caused by the presence or imminence of danger.

The fear of God is a healthy fear. It does not mean fear of His wrath or retribution for sin, but the fear of God is a reverential respect for God that is a controlling motive for life. The root of it is a love for God that results in obedience. It is a fear of not wanting to dishonor God because of sin.
