It got to the point that JJ Vallow's grandparents asked for a wellness check to be performed. After performing the wellness check and speaking with Alex Cox and Chad Daybell, Detective Hermosillo had a feeling that they were lying and it was this interaction that set the snowball rolling and would eventually lead to the discovery of the remains of JJ and Tylee.
