Nazaré is the epicentre of global big wave surfing, a place where the world’s bravest surfers come to set big wave world records. Meet Sérgio Cosme, a jetski pilot at Nazaré whose job is to locate a fallen surfer, race towards them at top speed with a jetski, and get them out of the way of the next wave. These waves are extreme, they can be 30 metres high and with only 10-15 seconds in between each wave, you haven’t got long at all before the next wave crushes you.
