A friend wrote to me a couple of days ago wanting inspiration and or information on how to land a radio station interview. I was open and honest "Go into that meeting with a positive attitude. Being in a giving spirit because radio stations need giving people right now. I know you want your own show and to have a lot of fun but you've got to be ready to do what they say." I received a note 40 minutes after the interview "I couldn't take the job. The money sucked." I laughed out loud. That's what real radio is all about. It's supposed to suck. That's how we learn to relate with listeners. We have to be on the same path of those that have chosen to listen.
