Jack laconically gazed out the window of the Manager’s office in Zulu. The float-out and jacket installation had been a heart-stopping movement – we nearly lost it!
The crane barge crew had the ballast incorrect – they hadn’t fully compensated for the type of sea swell – it was long and ‘peaky’ – at the crucial moment of locating the topsides the barge heaved and tilted to an alarming angle. Heaving, for what seemed a ‘lifetime’, at an alarming angle on the ‘point of balance’ between safety and disaster.
