This week, my guest is Victor Schegin, a native Parisian whose first foray into the art world was as a 15-year-old street artist. As a painter, Victor explores vulnerability through his portraiture, often blending emotive, introspective models with bright, bold colors and abstract elements. Victor is generous with his time and talent, offering tips and tricks to his followers online. He is also an art teacher and has created a Facebook group of artists helping and supporting other artists numbering over 120,000.
In our conversation, Victor shares how he fell in love with painting and what it took to finally get him to pursue it full-time. He tackles some of the biggest ideas in the art world today: where is the line between street art and vandalism, what does it take to be great, and how does that corrolate to a career where you’ve “made it.”

About UsWho will be the world's next Salvador Dali, Thierry Mugler, or Josephine Baker, launching a new wave of the avant-garde? How are new artforms created, developed, honed? And where exactly do today's artists and creatives find their inspirations?
Each week, join City of Muses host Jennifer Geraghty as she sits down with contemporary artists, poets, dancers, designers, and performers to explore what inspires them, what their creative processes are like, where their ideas come from, and how Paris has helped or hindered their dreams come true.
Inspiration and creativity meet in Paris, the City of Muses.
