This week we start off with our Tech Trends segment where we are joined by Keith Boyd. Keith began working for Microsoft in 2000 as a Software Test Engineer and now manages a global team responsible for Microsoft’s field seller productivity and data operations. He discusses the changing trends he’s seen over the past 20 years, the concept of tech intensity, and how it directly impacts the skills gap within Information Technology. We also dive into no-code and low-code solutions, which have created a fundamental shift in how apps are built and an increase in citizen developers.
Later, we talk with Next Gen Tech guest, Melissa Corrales, who is a Freshman in the honors college at ASU. In high school, Melissa’s school was a part of the one to one program where every student was given their own personal laptop. After the realization that not everyone had access to a computer at home and seeing the positive impact this program had on her classmates and their approach to school work, Melissa is now passionate about technology becoming more accessible to the general public. She explains how she became passionate about technology, how she thinks society can get more girls involved in tech, and how she sees technology affecting her future.
