One question that comes up many a time is what should be the best time to convert an idea into patent i.e. to start thinking about patent filing.
Earlier, it used to be First to Invent but now the person who files patent first in the patent office gets the patent.
Many inventors file provisional patents before filing the actual patent as it allows them to establish the “effective” filing date for a non-provisional application filed at a later time.
The overall crux is if you have an idea, quickly get it written up and head to the patent office so as to secure rights to your innovation as time is the key.
