My name is Ian Nockolds and for the past 10 years I’ve been a volunteer sports broadcaster at Somer Valley FM, a community radio station broadcasting across North East Somerset.
On February 13th, this year, UNESCO, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, held their 7th World Radio Day. This years theme was sport, specifically a celebration of its ability to inspire and connect communities.
Taking a leaf out of UNESCO’s book I was inspired to use my own broadcasting background to better understand what opportunities exist, where I live, in Wiltshire, for local people to lead healthier happier lives.
