In this Aging GreatFULLy power-hour we begin a two-part series on an important topic most of us face at some point in our lives – coping with grief and being prepared for end-of-life. However, we begin the hour talking about some of your favorite TV shows, because on the Aging GreatFULLy show, we’re never cookie cutter! But you’ll soon understand why… as we do make our way to explore several kinds of grief, including the challenging emotions we may be left with after experiencing the loss of a loved one.
Host Holley Kelley shares how we often end up replaying all those challenging post-death emotions of regret, resentment and remorse through what she calls our “Wouldas, Shouldas and Couldas” renderings. But this Ground Hog Day replay we subject ourselves to can also often prevent us from moving forward to live our best life and experiencing healthy grieving – good grief.
We talk about how grief can come in many varieties and discuss the challenges many have in knowing how to deal with their own grief journey and how to support others who are grieving too. Kelley takes us through the hour as we look at grief from a variety of angles and experiences.
Kelley also is a huge advocate of advance care and end-of-life planning as an EOL consultant. She is author of the Amazon #1 Release, National and International Multi-award winning book, Sunrises and Sunsets: Final Affairs Forged with Flair, Finesse and FUNctionality, that has helped readers around the world plan for the end and inspire their GRAND new beginning with her novel approach to living fully while being thoughtfully prepared. Her book is available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble or visit www.HolleyKelley.com for autographed copies. Listen to this episode for a special and limited promo code she shares.
In summary, Kelley invites listeners to consider special ways to upcycle their grief to celebrate their loved ones – something she calls Quilting Good Grief© with a “Good Grief Quilt Patch”©. We discover, through remaining centered in the love and energy inspired by and through our loved ones passed, our heart is encouraged towards healing, hope and transcendence, one stitch or deed at a time.
