Right Messiah, Wrong Name? - Each spring, Christians the world over observe Palm Sunday, Good Friday and Easter to mark major events in the life of Jesus, whom they believe to be the Messiah. Yet a husband and wife Biblical research team says that throughout these Holy Days Christians get an important detail wrong – the Messiah’s name. “Most of these people, though they have the correct historical person, use a name that simply cannot be his given name,” says Peter Miller-Russo, who along with his wife, Linda, is a non-denominational Christian. They co-authored “Proclaim His Holy Name: Uncovering YEHOVAH’S Will for His Name” The Miller-Russos say the name Jesus takes us pretty far afield from the real name because Jesus is a translation of a Greek word Iēsous, pronounced as ee-ay-sous, which itself is an inaccurate translation of the Messiah’s original Hebrew name. www.proclaimhisholyname.org
