Dr. Robert Bartholomew is an American-born medical sociologist who teaches history at Botany College in Auckland, New Zealand. He has written 16 books on topics ranging from UFOs and cryptozoology to social panics and bizarre mental disorders. He is known for working with believers and skeptics alike, and while requiring conclusive proof of extraordinary claims, he admits that there are a small number of cases that science simply cannot explain. Robert began his career as a journalist for several New York radio stations, and has appeared in documentaries on the History and Discovery Channels, and for National Geographic. He has published over sixty articles in science journals including the British Medical Journal and The International Journal of Social Psychiatry. His books include The Encyclopedia of Extraordinary Social Behavior (with Hilary Evans); A Colorful History of Popular Delusions (with Peter Hassall); The Untold Story of Champ: A Social History of America’s Loch Ness Monster (2012); and Bigfoot in New York and New England: Documented Evidence – Stranger Than Fiction (2008) (with Paul Bartholomew). - Website: robertebartholomew.com/
