Since there are so few of them, don’t make all our people struggle to go up there.”4 So approximately 3,000 warriors were sent, but they were soundly defeated. 17 MAR. 2024 · Parable of the Lost Sheep 1 Tax collectors and other notorious sinners often came to listen to Jesus teach. 2 This made the Pharisees and teachers of religious law complain that he was associating with such sinful people—even eating with them!3 So Jesus told them this story: 4 “If a man has a hundred sheep and one of them gets lost, what will he do? Won’t he leave the ninety-nine others in the wilderness and go to search for the one that is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he will joyfully carry it home on his shoulders. 6 When he arrives, he will call together his friends and neighbors, saying, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found my lost sheep.’ 7 In the same way, there is more joy in heaven over one lost sinner who repents and returns to God than over ninety-nine others who are righteous and haven’t strayed away! Parable of the Lost Coin 8 “Or suppose a woman has ten silver coins[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+15&version=NLT#fen-NLT-25565a] and loses one. This kind of fasting     will never get you anywhere with me. 5 You humble yourselves     by going through the motions of penance, bowing your heads     like reeds bending in the wind. You dress in burlap     and cover yourselves with ashes. Is this what you call fasting?     Do you really think this will please the Lord? 6 “No, this is the kind of fasting I want: Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;     lighten the burden of those who work for you. Let the oppressed go free,     and remove the chains that bind people. 7 Share your food with the hungry,     and give shelter to the homeless. Give clothes to those who need them,     and do not hide from relatives who need your help. 8 “Then your salvation will come like the dawn,     and your wounds will quickly heal. For he would heal him of his leprosy.” 4 And Naaman went in and told his master, saying, “Thus and thus said the girl who is from the land of Israel.”5 Then the king of Syria said, “Go now, and I will send a letter to the king of Israel.”So he departed and took with him ten talents of silver, six thousand shekels of gold, and ten changes of clothing. 6 Then he brought the letter to the king of Israel, which said,Now be advised, when this letter comes to you, that I have sent Naaman my servant to you, that you may heal him of his leprosy. 7 And it happened, when the king of Israel read the letter, that he tore his clothes and said, “Am I God, to kill and make alive, that this man sends a man to me to heal him of his leprosy? When Naaman saw him running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him, and said, “Is all well?”22 And he said, “All is well. My master has sent me, saying, ‘Indeed, just now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the mountains of Ephraim.
