19 MAY. 2024 · The Way, the Truth, and the Life 1 “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. 2 In My Father’s house are many [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26671a]mansions; if it were not so,[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26671b]I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 4 And where I go you know, and the way you know.”5 Thomas said to Him, “Lord, we do not know where You are going, and how can we know the way?”6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. The Father Revealed 7 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him.”8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. 11 Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. The Answered Prayer 12 “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26683c]ask anything in My name, I will do it. Jesus Promises Another Helper 15 “If you love Me, [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26684d]keep My commandments. 16 And I will pray the Father, and He will give you another [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26685e]Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you. 18 I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you. Indwelling of the Father and the Son 19 “A little while longer and the world will see Me no more, but you will see Me. Because I live, you will live also. 20 At that day you will know that I am in My Father, and you in Me, and I in you. 21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me. And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26690f]manifest Myself to him.”22 Judas (not Iscariot) said to Him, “Lord, how is it that You will manifest Yourself to us, and not to the world?”23 Jesus answered and said to him, “If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word; and My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our home with him. 24 He who does not love Me does not keep My words; and the word which you hear is not Mine but the Father’s who sent Me. The Gift of His Peace 25 “These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26695g]Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you. 27 Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. 28 You have heard Me say to you, ‘I am going away and coming back to you.’ If you loved Me, you would rejoice because [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+14&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-26697h]I said, ‘I am going to the Father,’ for My Father is greater than I.29 “And now I have told you before it comes, that when it does come to pass, you may believe. 30 I will no longer talk much with you, for the ruler of this world is coming, and he has nothing in Me. 31 But that the world may know that I love the Father, and as the Father gave Me commandment, so I do. Arise, let us go from here. John 14

  • Hannah - A Mother of Faith | Pr Stephen Kong

12 MAY. 2024 · The Family of Elkanah 1 Now there was a certain man of Ramathaim Zophim, of the mountains of Ephraim, and his name was Elkanah the son of Jeroham, the son of [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7214a]Elihu, the son of [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7214b]Tohu, the son of Zuph, an Ephraimite. 2 And he had two wives: the name of one was Hannah, and the name of the other Peninnah. Peninnah had children, but Hannah had no children. 3 This man went up from his city yearly to worship and sacrifice to the Lord of hosts in Shiloh. Also the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, the priests of the Lord, were there. 4 And whenever the time came for Elkanah to make an offering, he would give portions to Peninnah his wife and to all her sons and daughters. 5 But to Hannah he would give a double portion, for he loved Hannah, although the Lord had closed her womb. 6 And her rival also provoked her severely, to make her miserable, because the Lord had closed her womb. 7 So it was, year by year, when she went up to the house of the Lord, that she provoked her; therefore she wept and did not eat. Hannah’s Vow 8 Then Elkanah her husband said to her, “Hannah, why do you weep? Why do you not eat? And why is your heart grieved? Am I not better to you than ten sons?”9 So Hannah arose after they had finished eating and drinking in Shiloh. Now Eli the priest was sitting on the seat by the doorpost of the [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7222c]tabernacle of the Lord. 10 And she was in bitterness of soul, and prayed to the Lord and [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7223d]wept in anguish. 11 Then she made a vow and said, “O Lord of hosts, if You will indeed look on the affliction of Your maidservant and remember me, and not forget Your maidservant, but will give Your maidservant a male child, then I will give him to the Lord all the days of his life, and no razor shall come upon his head.”12 And it happened, as she continued praying before the Lord, that Eli watched her mouth. 13 Now Hannah spoke in her heart; only her lips moved, but her voice was not heard. Therefore Eli thought she was drunk. 14 So Eli said to her, “How long will you be drunk? Put your wine away from you!”15 But Hannah answered and said, “No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord. 16 Do not consider your maidservant a wicked[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7229e] woman, for out of the abundance of my complaint and grief I have spoken until now.”17 Then Eli answered and said, “Go in peace, and the God of Israel grant your petition which you have asked of Him.”18 And she said, “Let your maidservant find favor in your sight.” So the woman went her way and ate, and her face was no longer sad. Samuel Is Born and Dedicated 19 Then they rose early in the morning and worshiped before the Lord, and returned and came to their house at Ramah. And Elkanah knew Hannah his wife, and the Lord remembered her. 20 So it came to pass in the process of time that Hannah conceived and bore a son, and called his name [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7233f]Samuel, saying, “Because I have asked for him from the Lord.”21 Now the man Elkanah and all his house went up to offer to the Lord the yearly sacrifice and his vow. 22 But Hannah did not go up, for she said to her husband, “Not until the child is weaned; then I will take him, that he may appear before the Lord and remain there forever.”23 So Elkanah her husband said to her, “Do what seems best to you; wait until you have weaned him. Only let the Lord [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7236g]establish [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7236h]His word.” Then the woman stayed and nursed her son until she had weaned him.24 Now when she had weaned him, she took him up with her, with [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7237i]three bulls, one ephah of flour, and a skin of wine, and brought him to the house of the Lord in Shiloh. And the child was young. 25 Then they slaughtered a bull, and brought the child to Eli. 26 And she said, “O my lord! As your soul lives, my lord, I am the woman who stood by you here, praying to the Lord. 27 For this child I prayed, and the Lordhas granted me my petition which I asked of Him. 28 Therefore I also have lent him to the Lord; as long as he lives he shall be [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Samuel+1&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-7241j]lent to the Lord.” So they worshiped the Lord there. 1 Samuel 1

  • Paul’s First Missionary Trip | Pr Matthew Chang

24 MAR. 2024 · Paul and Barnabas Are Sent to the Gentiles 1 Now in the church that was at Antioch there were certain prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. 2 As they ministered to the Lord and fasted, the Holy Spirit said, “Now separate to Me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” 3 Then, having fasted and prayed, and laid hands on them, they sent them away. Preaching in Cyprus 4 So, being sent out by the Holy Spirit, they went down to Seleucia, and from there they sailed to Cyprus. 5 And when they arrived in Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews. They also had John as their assistant.6 Now when they had gone through [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27369a]the island to Paphos, they found a certain sorcerer, a false prophet, a Jew whose name was Bar-Jesus, 7 who was with the proconsul, Sergius Paulus, an intelligent man. This man called for Barnabas and Saul and sought to hear the word of God. 8 But Elymas the sorcerer (for so his name is translated) [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27371b]withstood them, seeking to turn the proconsul away from the faith. 9 Then Saul, who also is called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked intently at him 10 and said, “O full of all deceit and all fraud, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness, will you not cease perverting the straight ways of the Lord? 11 And now, indeed, the hand of the Lord is upon you, and you shall be blind, not seeing the sun for a time.”And immediately a dark mist fell on him, and he went around seeking someone to lead him by the hand. 12 Then the proconsul believed, when he saw what had been done, being astonished at the teaching of the Lord. At Antioch in Pisidia 13 Now when Paul and his party set sail from Paphos, they came to Perga in Pamphylia; and John, departing from them, returned to Jerusalem. 14 But when they departed from Perga, they came to Antioch in Pisidia, and went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and sat down. 15 And after the reading of the Law and the Prophets, the rulers of the synagogue sent to them, saying, “Men and brethren, if you have any word of [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27378c]exhortation for the people, say on.”16 Then Paul stood up, and motioning with his hand said, “Men of Israel, and you who fear God, listen: 17 The God of this people [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27380d]Israel chose our fathers, and exalted the people when they dwelt as strangers in the land of Egypt, and with [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27380e]an uplifted arm He brought them out of it. 18 Now for a time of about forty years He put up with their ways in the wilderness. 19 And when He had destroyed seven nations in the land of Canaan, He distributed their land to them by allotment.20 “After that He gave them judges for about four hundred and fifty years, until Samuel the prophet. 21 And afterward they asked for a king; so God gave them Saul the son of Kish, a man of the tribe of Benjamin, for forty years. 22 And when He had removed him, He raised up for them David as king, to whom also He gave testimony and said, ‘I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who will do all My will.’ 23 From this man’s seed, according to the promise, God raised up for Israel a[https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27386f] Savior—Jesus— 24 after John had first preached, before His coming, the baptism of repentance to all the people of Israel. 25 And as John was finishing his course, he said, ‘Who do you think I am? I am not He. But behold, there comes One after me, the sandals of whose feet I am not worthy to loose.’26 “Men and brethren, sons of the [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27389g]family of Abraham, and those among you who fear God, to you the [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27389h]word of this salvation has been sent. 27 For those who dwell in Jerusalem, and their rulers, because they did not know Him, nor even the voices of the Prophets which are read every Sabbath, have fulfilled them in condemning Him. 28 And though they found no cause for death in Him, they asked Pilate that He should be put to death. 29 Now when they had fulfilled all that was written concerning Him, they took Him down from the tree and laid Him in a tomb. 30 But God raised Him from the dead. 31 He was seen for many days by those who came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are His witnesses to the people. 32 And we declare to you glad tidings—that promise which was made to the fathers. 33 God has fulfilled this for us their children, in that He has raised up Jesus. As it is also written in the second Psalm:‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.’ 34 And that He raised Him from the dead, no more to return to [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27397i]corruption, He has spoken thus:‘I will give you the sure [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27397j]mercies of David.’ 35 Therefore He also says in another Psalm:‘You will not allow Your Holy One to see corruption.’ 36 “For David, after he had served [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27399k]his own generation by the will of God, fell asleep, was buried with his fathers, and [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27399l]saw corruption; 37 but He whom God raised up [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27400m]saw no corruption. 38 Therefore let it be known to you, brethren, that through this Man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins; 39 and by Him everyone who believes is justified from all things from which you could not be justified by the law of Moses. 40 Beware therefore, lest what has been spoken in the prophets come upon you:41 ‘Behold, you despisers, Marvel and perish! For I work a work in your days, A work which you will by no means believe, Though one were to declare it to you.’ ” Blessing and Conflict at Antioch 42 [https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Acts+13&version=NKJV#fen-NKJV-27405n]So when the Jews went out of the synagogue, the Gentiles begged that these words might be preached to them the next Sabbath. 43 Now when the congregation had broken up, many of the Jews and devout proselytes followed Paul and Barnabas, who, speaking to them, persuaded them to continue in the grace of God.44 On the next Sabbath almost the whole city came together to hear the word of God. 45 But when the Jews saw the multitudes, they were filled with envy; and contradicting and blaspheming, they opposed the things spoken by Paul. 46 Then Paul and Barnabas grew bold and said, “It was necessary that the word of God should be spoken to you first; but since you reject it, and judge yourselves unworthy of everlasting life, behold, we turn to the Gentiles. 47 For so the Lord has commanded us:‘I have set you as a light to the Gentiles, That you should be for salvation to the ends of the earth.’ ” 48 Now when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad and glorified the word of the Lord. And as many as had been appointed to eternal life believed.49 And the word of the Lord was being spread throughout all the region. 50 But the Jews stirred up the devout and prominent women and the chief men of the city, raised up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them from their region. 51 But they shook off the dust from their feet against them, and came to Iconium. 52 And the disciples were filled with joy and with the Holy Spirit.
