10 OCT. 2026 · On Christmas morning 1964, the quiet English town of Warminster was jolted awake by a sound that defied explanation—a violent, menacing noise that seemed to pound at the heads, necks, and shoulders of those who heard it. Soldiers stationed nearby were thrown from their beds, believing an attack was underway. Within weeks, the sounds returned. Then came the lights. Stationary cigar shapes. Shimmering objects in the sky. And a photograph of a flying saucer that would make Warminster famous around the world.
In this episode, we investigate the terrifying mystery of the Warminster Thing—Britain's most enduring UFO flap. We trace the phenomenon from its origin on Christmas Day 1964 through a decade of sightings that turned a sleepy Wiltshire town into the UFO capital of the United Kingdom. We examine the accounts of thousands of witnesses who gathered on Cley Hill, Cradle Hill, and Middle Hill to watch the night sky, hoping to catch a glimpse of something that shouldn't exist. We explore the role of Arthur Shuttlewood, the local journalist who became the phenomenon's chief chronicler and eventually its most fervent believer—and the question of whether his enthusiasm helped fuel the mystery or distort it. And we ask the questions that remain unanswered sixty years later: Was the Warminster Thing a secret military experiment from nearby Salisbury Plain? A mass delusion born of Cold War anxiety? Or something genuinely unexplained—a presence that visited a small English town and never fully left? 10 OCT. 2026 · He was cycling to work in the early hours of the morning when he saw her. A figure standing near the dark waters of Trench Pool—pale, motionless, watching. It was only an instant. A glimpse. But it was enough to know that something was deeply wrong.
What began as a single terrifying encounter soon became something far more disturbing. The figure didn't disappear. It followed him. For weeks, the presence haunted him—appearing at the edges of his vision, at the corners of his consciousness, in the silent hours before dawn. He called it the Wraith of Trench Pool. And the closer it got, the more he realized he wasn't dealing with a common ghost. It was something that wanted him. Something that had chosen him.
This is the true story of Reece Matthews, a listener who shared his experience with the Bedtime Stories podcast. A haunting that doesn't end when you close your eyes. That doesn't disappear when the sun rises. And that proves that sometimes, ghosts aren't bound to a place. They follow you home. 10 OCT. 2026 · The deserts of the Middle East have swallowed armies, buried empires, and served as the backdrop for some of the most brutal conflicts in modern history. They are landscapes that strip men of comfort, deplete their strength, and leave them exposed to an endless horizon. But alongside the heat and the sand and the enemy, soldiers have reported something else. Figures glimpsed through night vision. Shadows moving where no enemy should be. Confrontations with beings that seemed anything but human.
In this episode, we explore the terrifying reports from the deserts of Afghanistan and Iraq—accounts from soldiers on the ground who encountered something they could not explain. We examine the legend of the Kandahar Giant, a massive red-haired creature said to have been killed by a US Special Forces unit in 2002. We investigate the stories of shadow figures seen through night vision goggles, of presences felt on patrol, and of adversaries that left no trace behind. We look at the 2004 incident at Forward Operating Base Diamondback near Mosul, where soldiers reported a dead insurgent's body emitting smoke that formed a humanoid shape with glowing red eyes and a mouth stretched unnaturally wide before disappearing into the night. And we explore the folklore of the Jinn—beings of smokeless fire from Islamic tradition who are said to inhabit the deserts, watching, waiting, and occasionally crossing paths with those who venture into their domain. Even today, whispers persist that in these unforgiving landscapes, there may still be... something in the desert. 10 OCT. 2026 · There is something in the woods. You feel it before you see it. The hair on the back of your neck stands up. The birds stop singing. The trees seem to lean in a little closer. And somewhere in the darkness between the trunks, something is watching. These are the stories from the people who went into the woods and discovered they were not alone.
In this episode, we explore the terrifying reality of what lurks in the forest. We begin with the legend that started it all—the GTA San Andreas myth of Bigfoot and the mysterious "something in the woods" that Rockstar allegedly teased. Fans spent years searching for a creature that didn't exist, but the real horror was what they found instead: hidden serial killers, ghost cars, and the eerie realization that the game's wilderness was hiding more than just trees. We investigate historical accounts of the "Wild Man"—a humanoid creature covered in hair, sighted by hunters and settlers across America in the 1800s, whose descendants may still roam the forests today. We examine modern encounters from hikers and campers who heard knocks and whistles in the dark, who saw figures standing motionless between the trees, who felt the sudden, primal certainty that they were being hunted. And we uncover the tragic true story of two women murdered in Shenandoah National Park—a case that remains unsolved, and a reminder that the most dangerous thing in the woods isn't always a monster. Sometimes, it's a man. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/bedtime-stories--7264324/support.

10 OCT. 2026 · On the night of October 11, 1973, two men were fishing off a pier on the Pascagoula River in Mississippi. Charles Hickson was 42, a practical man who had never shown interest in UFOs. Calvin Parker was just 19. They were co-workers, killing time after a shift at the shipyard. Then they heard a whizzing sound. Two flashing blue lights appeared. And an oval-shaped object, 30 to 40 feet across, descended from the sky.
What happened next became one of the most famous and controversial alien abduction cases in American history. Hickson and Parker claimed that three creatures emerged from the craft—gray, humanoid beings with no necks, slitted mouths, pointed protrusions for noses and ears, and claw-like hands. They said they were paralyzed but conscious as the creatures took them aboard, examined them for about 30 minutes, and then returned them to the riverbank. Hickson later described something that looked like a large floating eye examining him. Parker said simply: "They gave a thorough, I mean a thorough, examination to me just like any doctor would."
Shaken, the men drove to a payphone and called the Air Force. They were told the Air Force no longer handled UFO cases. So they did something that would change their lives forever: they drove to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and reported what had happened.
The deputies thought they were drunk. But the men passed sobriety tests. Investigators left them alone in a room with a hidden tape recorder, hoping to catch them laughing about a hoax. Instead, they heard Hickson telling Parker, "It scared me to death too, son. You can't get over it in a lifetime. Jesus Christ have mercy." Captain Glenn Ryder later said: "I know you don't fake fear, and they were fearful."
The case drew national attention. J. Allen Hynek, the world's foremost UFO investigator, traveled to Pascagoula and interviewed the men, concluding they were "absolutely honest" and had "had a fantastic experience." Skeptics like Philip Klass argued the case was a hoax, pointing to discrepancies in Hickson's story. Skeptical investigator Joe Nickell proposed a different explanation: a hypnagogic experience—a waking dream state between sleep and consciousness, possibly accompanied by sleep paralysis, which could produce hallucinations of strange beings and the sensation of being paralyzed.
But the evidence kept accumulating. Both men had puncture wounds on their bodies matching their accounts of being grabbed. A medical examination documented these marks two days after the incident. Hickson passed a polygraph test. And in the decades that followed, new witnesses came forward—people who had been on the other side of the river that night, who saw strange lights and something emerging from the water. In 2019, the city of Pascagoula unveiled a historical marker at the site of the alleged abduction. Calvin Parker attended the ceremony and said: "It is emotional for me. I can't really describe it because I would break out in tears if I do. I wish when I died I could be buried right here underneath this plaque, that would explain it the best. It is quite an honor."
Charles Hickson never stopped telling his story. He died in 2011, maintaining to the end that what happened on that riverbank was real. Calvin Parker spent decades trying to avoid the spotlight, but eventually wrote a book about his experience. He died in August 2023, just before the 50th anniversary of the encounter that changed his life forever. 10 OCT. 2026 · A story has circulated the internet for years: a grieving mother in Celina, Texas, found dead in a rocking chair, clutching a crude doll made of sticks, sitting before a shrine to her drowned son. A note in her handwriting dated months after she died. A Sanskrit word meaning "construct" pasted to the altar. And a theory that she created a "tulpa"—a physical entity born from the sheer force of her grief—that turned on her and killed her.
It is one of the most disturbing stories you will ever hear. And it is not true.
In this episode, we investigate the viral mystery of Olivia Mabel—and uncover the truth behind one of the internet's most persistent hoaxes. We trace the story back to its origin: a 2016 Kickstarter campaign for a short film called *Thoughtform*, created by a California production company called Elftree Media. The film's creators built an elaborate fictional website, backdated posts to make the story appear older, and invented not just Olivia and Aiden, but an entire supporting cast of police officers, paramedics, and paranormal investigators who never existed. We examine the evidence that debunks the story: the absence of any obituary, death certificate, or police record; the suspicious timing of the "discovered" documents; the whois records linking the Olivia Mabel website directly to the film's creators. And we ask the question that matters: Why did this story spread so far, so fast—and why do so many people still believe it, even after the truth has been exposed?
