Unceded Airwaves is a bi-weekly radio program produced by CiTR’s Indigenous Collective. We are committed to centering Indigenous voices and offering alternative narratives that empower Indigenous people and their stories. We recognize that media has often been used as a tool to subordinate or appropriate Indigenous voices and we are committed to subverting these dynamics. The team is comprised of both Indigenous and non-Indigenous people who are passionate about story-telling, alternative media and Indigenous affairs.

13 MAR. 2020 · Tyanna and Sage are joined by Karmella of Indigenous Brilliance to discuss mixed Indigenous identities. The group discusses reclaiming representation through creativity, finding and creating space they feel whole, and imagine queer and cultural futures.

We discuss the arrest of Indigenous Youth on January 21st who were occupying the entrance to the Ministry of Energy office in Victoria, BC. We also discuss the importance of storytelling and narrative when it comes to Indigenous resistance. Never without optimism, we end with a talk on what has been bringing us joy!

8 NOV. 2019 · The episode opens with Emily sharing her reflections in the world of Inuit art and responding to a recent New York Times article. Next Sabrina and Shania guide a discussion on recent efforts by the British Columbian government to implement UNDRIP. Next Shelby leads a discussion on Squamish's Senakw project proposal. In the second half of the discussion the group responds to the topics of the episode, and how they relate to Indigenous futurisms.
25 OCT. 2019 · In the first episode of our 2019/2020 season, Kenzie, Richard, Tyanna, Tiana and Sage discuss politics and introduce our season theme: Indigenous Futurisms. The episode begins with a reflection on the results of the 2019 Federal election. This is followed by a discussion on Indigenous Futurisms with a focus on sovereignty and representation.
27 MAR. 2019 · We finish Season 4 with a conversation about journeys. What journey means to us, where they take us, how they change us, how to go through them in a good way. Jamuna, Jess and Wacey share some readings and stories. We began this season gripping desperately to a script. We finish with a beautifully unscripted and honest discussion.

Jamuna shares some readings with us from some of her favourite books by Indigenous womxn in a very soothing voice.Then, we hear Steph and Autumn's interviews from the opening night of Growing Room, Vancouver's feminist literary festival. We speak with performers DJ Kookum and the all Indigenous burlesque grroup Virago Nation.
