23 MAY. 2019 · Tonight we continue our discussion on Mental health as it relates to disability. I shared some of my experiences with depression and how it has affected not only my life but my relationships, we also talked about the crazy like a fox tour the will kick off this weekend and go all the way into July .
17 MAY. 2019 · On tonight edition of Dreaming Beyond Your Disability, we had the pleasure of speaking to Ms. Taryn Goldsmith the creator and founder of "Mood Swingin LLC" a minority mental health awareness organization. While struggling both as an at-risk teen and with mental illness, she defied all of the odds stacked against her. Using her pain as motivation she has become an advocate for the youth and mental health.
Working within the healthcare industry fueled her passion for helping people. Becoming an advocate for youth, women, and mental health was sparked by her work and her own personal battles. She has volunteered with several organizations that cater to women and youth, including WEEN, Girls Who Brunch Tour and Path to Greatness. Throughout her journey, she held on to her passion for writing and in 2017 brought to fruition her dream of becoming an author. In 2018, she also realized her dream of starting her own mental health advocacy organization. This year she is a part of the Crazy Like a Fox Tour, a 4 city tour dedicated to raising awareness about mental health issues.
