Anthropologists have studied the ruins of a great city and temple in Zimbabwe, and it has left them in wonder. The construction and markings are Phoenician, but how was it developed so far South of the Fertile Crescent? Who built it and why? How was it destroyed? H Rider Haggard has elaborated on this in the novel, Elissa. It is the story of the love of Prince Aziel, an Israelite grandson of both Solomon the Wise and a daughter of Pharaoh, and Elissa of Zimboe, a priestess of Baal. They are faced with impossible relationship choices on which depend the lives of thousands, and even their own immortal souls. (Summary by Keith Salis)
