Step inside 79 Wistful Vista for Fibber McGee & Molly, the beloved American radio sitcom that aired from 1935 to 1959. Starring real-life husband and wife Jim and Marian Jordan as blustery, tall-tale-prone Fibber and his patient, quick-witted wife Molly, it turns everyday married life in the small town of Wistful Vista into gentle, wordplay-filled comedy. With a parade of eccentric neighbors always dropping by and Fibber's famously overstuffed hall closet ready to burst at any moment, it's a warm, lived-in classic that helped invent the sitcom and still feels instantly inviting today.

27 SEP. 2026 · Aired: Jun 1st, 1931. Fibber pays a visit to Luke Gray's smack-out grocery store with elephants still on his mind, only to discover Luke's latest get-rich-quick scheme: repainting old bottles into candlesticks for a can't-miss bargain sale. Between wandering musings on how you'd ever get an elephant off the ground and a request for a tune on the melodeon, this early Smackout episode is a snapshot of the loose, meandering charm that would eventually grow into 79 Wistful Vista. A relaxed, low-key slice of pre-Fibber-McGee-and-Molly radio comedy.
