It powers our personal vehicles, freight trucks, train, and ships and even our large passenger jets. Because of this it's extremely valuable! So much so that oil is being extracted from the ground on every continent except Antarctica. And during it's nearly 250 year existence it's delivered a lot of mail! One way in which it's been able to be so effectvie is by carving up the country into ZIP codes, which have since spread far and wide to become a defacto geographic unit for things well beyond carrying mail.
