Whalen is a part of Generation X, which is considered the golden age of comics during the 80s. Despite having a different background, he pursued his passion for comics and created The Offspring - a story about three kids who, despite their difficult past, discover their unique abilities once they come together.

I first met Mark in early April at Wondercon, we were both tabling our respected comics. I knocked his stand over a couple of times...I know embarrassing! And I went around to say hello. There was Mark, very sweet and welcoming with two color toned contacts, who was just a bright light. Least to say we were chatting away and getting chummy. Their comic is impressive and is one I intend to follow. It's a team behind this one so with numbers like that is a great supportive team, something I should really consider since i'm a lone wolf. Erica Juliet became friends with Mark during writing class, she is full circle talent! She's an actress, model, writer and mama!
Carmina follows a young and beautiful filipino woman who comes to find she has god like blood running through her veins and is about to kick some serious ass!
I love the idea of housing comics that give misfit cultured kids a home to grow and belong and dream. This is what DIWATA is all about.
This is exactly why I started this journey, to meet like-minded kids that love this industry as much as I do. To positively connect to a community, an audience that will mirror the same love. And to also purely be immersed and entertained and before you know an ultimate fan!
