My name is Kristen Poulter, but I'm known as the artist named Pen Name Moon. I'm mainly a Lyricist / Songwriter in the music Industry, but I also compose instrumentals, radio DJ, and run a independent label that was created to be a DIY for free kit for independent artiststo keep them from becoming starving artists. When I came to the music industry from next door, the writing industry, where i became a published poet at the age of 12, I quickly learned that there were not many that would help or offer guidance unless there was a fee involved. Many would just send me on a goose chase for their humors benefit. I had to learn this industry from the ground up on my own and had to learn skills like composing instrumentals, promoting myself, what revenues I were owed, and how to claim them all on my own. From that experience, I learned that there are so many free resources, tools, software, and more that are free for today's independent artists. You can record a track, mix and master it, distribute, and promote it free these days. Something else I noticed is that others are using the same information i came across and are charging other artists for it. To me, information should be shared freely. There are way too many out here in the world scamming artists with free Internet stations with no listeners, selling contact lists that are free online, and more, causing artists to become starving artists while getting nowhere. I wish to break that cycle and help them by providing what they need for free as in information, tools, software, distributors, publishers, contracts, contact lists, and alone more.
