Oddette holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration and a graduate degree in Human Resource Management. She has a background in accounting, payroll, and human resources, but her true passion is creating. Today, Oh D’Luxe Candles can be found on the shelves of over 18 retail stores across the U.S., including REI. The brand has been featured in various media outlets including CNBC Prime, WTNH News, Redfin Blog, The Connecticut Examiner, Connecticut Magazine, and Tabitha Brown’s Very Good Monday. She is here to share her story of becoming a small business owner, her motivation/drive, tips that are key despite challenges and steps you too can take.

She has committed herself to pastoring a church for the past 10 years. She shares some of her challenges, sacrifices, hard work and how she found her purpose, always rise to her circumstance, and making the best of it!

  • Rising Above Circumstances

    15 MAY. 2024 · Dr. Saran Heron talks with Dr. Margarett Alexandre, an associate professor at York College Department of Nursing, School of Health Sciences and Professional Programs, of the City University of New York (CUNY). As a Jonas Scholar and member of the New York Academy of Medicine, she earned her PhD at the CUNY Graduate Center. Dr. Alexandre received a master's in nursing and a certificate in gerontological nursing from Adelphi University.  She has published in peer-reviewed nursing journals and serves as a manuscript reviewer. Founder and president of the Grandbois Youth Empowerment Mission Inc., which provides health, nutrition, and educational support to the Grandbois Community in Haiti. Dr. Alexandre recently added a memorial scholarship for pre-law and law students in her son’s name. She shares her son’s journey to being a lawyer, his health problem, work she is doing in Haiti, and how she continues to rise above her circumstances.
