Nico Kleynhans has led an uncommon life. Growing  up as a white man during apartheid in a small town in a staunch, conservative Christian family and community he faced many obstacles. Despite uncles who were wardens on Robben Island he fought to overturn the apartheid regime. He was arrested and detained as a political prisoner on numerous occasions while receiving many death threats and faced imminent death by lynching.
