The attraction that is often experienced between lovers is not love but a temporary biological attraction. Love is the desire to serve another without expectation or reward. Relationships based on the desire to support each other have a strong chance of surviving. Relationships based on need or sex are built on sand.

We also project our fantasy onto our partner and we do not see who they really are. There are masks upon masks until we start being honest and tell each other the truth. We can't disempower ourselves and be authentic. We have to be responsible for our own behavior and happiness.

Detachment is the ability to consciously and objectively observe what is happening in the relationship while attachment is the immature disempowerment to your partner. Detachment is desire, while attachment is need. Attachment is codependency and detachment is freedom. When you are attached to your partner, you are afraid. When you are detached, you are confident. It is better to be detached.

The problem is making lists reduces the chance of finding someone that is perfect for you. Many people require their mate be tall. The problem is that eliminates 75% of the population. Other people want a body style that further reduces the gene pool. People should tear up their list and have an open mind and an open heart and their chances will increase.

It is important to know what emotion you are having because it is the only way to control your emotions. Some people only have two emotions, happy and afraid. There are hundreds of emotions, and you have to be mindful and conscious of where you are on the emotional spectrum You can control your emotions when you are aware of them.
