4 MAY. 2023 · In honor of May the 4th and the 40th anniversary of Return of the Jedi (which was the first movie I ever remember seeing in a movie theater when I was just shy of 5 years old), I comment broadly on the Star Wars franchise, share my opinions as to the relative flaws and merits of the sequel versus the prequel trilogies, list my favorite and least favorite Star Wars films from worst to first, consider the Disney Plus series, and look ahead to the future, including my recommendation for what series I think they should develop...
9 MAR. 2023 · Dave offers his take on some recent romantic comedies he tried to watch with his wife around Valentine's Day, and considers changes the film industry in light of the pandemic, the rise of at-home streaming, the decline of the movie star's drawing power at the box office, the dominance of "event" franchises, and the increasing costliness of theater going for average working people. Movies reviewed include: The Lost Island with Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum; Ticket to Paradise with George Clooney and Julia Roberts; Shotgun Wedding with Jennifer Lopez, and Marry Me, also with J Lo and Owen Wilson; Meet Cute with Kaley Cuoco and Pete Davidson; and Your Place or Mine with Reese Witherspoon and Ashton Kutcher.
31 DIC. 2022 · It's Morbin' Time! Continuing with Spider-Man's 60th anniversary, Dave reviews the recent Sony Pictures Spider-Man-adjacent films Morbius and Venom 2: Let There Be Carnage, and discusses the Sony's Spider-Man Universe, including the upcoming feature Kraven the Hunter.
30 DIC. 2022 · With 2022 marking the 60th anniversry of Spider-Man's first comic book appearance, the 20th anniversary of the first Spider-Man movie and the 10th anniversary of the Amazing Spider-Man movie, Dave discusses both the comic and movie history of the character and shares his favorite and last favorite parts of each. Also, in honor of Marvel Comics creator Stan Lee's 100th birthday on December 28th, Dave reflects on Stan's cultural legacy.
