With Kentucky Derby season upon us, Chief Humphrey explains the need for all officers on duty and the opportunities to strengthen the ranks of officers patrolling on foot and horseback in various neighborhoods.
Chief Humphrey also updates a tragic Easter Sunday event where a man stabbed an LMPD officer who was saved by his protective vest. The assailant was killed by a fellow officer. Body cam footage is forthcoming.

23 ABR. 2025 · Ultramarathoner Tavi Wallace, who has completed two 100 mile races along with 78 marathons, will pace runners in this week's Kentucky Derby Festival Marathon and miniMarathon.
60 different pacers organized by Dallas Harshfield will run at various speeds to keep runners at their desired speeds. Tavi, for instance, will carry a sign that reads 3:55 PACE. That means she will run 8:57 per mile for the entire 26.2 miles of the marathon course. Any runner who is properly trained to stay at that pace will earn a sub-4 hour final race time of 3 hours and 55 minutes.
Other paces will scoot along at varying paces from a 3:15 finish time all the way up to a 6 full hours pace to finish the marathon.
