The Center for Disease Control (CDC) reports that maternal mortality is increasing and it is especially true for Black women with 69.9 maternal deaths out of 100,000 births. 90. Dialogue and Health As Expanding Consciousness Nursing Theory
25 AGO. 2023 · On this episode my guests include Drs. Marie Gill, Jane Flanagan, and Margaret “Maggie” Pharris. Our conversation centered around dialogue and its importance and Dr. Margaret Newman’s theory – Health as Expanding Consciousness (HEC). Dr. Newman was a nursing theorist who is an alumna of the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Nursing, and a former faculty member of the College of Nursing. The UTHSC CON recently dedicated the Dr. Margaret A. Newman Center for Nursing Theory. Our discussion on this episode delves into the HEC theory, the future direction of the Center, and a bit about Dr. Newman herself.
