2 MAY. 2024 · Former President Trump, on a one day break from his criminal trial, stirred familiar controversy by refusing to commit to accepting the outcome of the upcoming election against President Joe Biden and expressing a willingness to contest results if he deems the process unfair. Campaigning in Wisconsin and Michigan, Trump projected a strongman image, promising drastic measures like mass deportations and crackdowns on perceived threats, while capitalizing on unrest to rally support. 1 MAY. 2024 · Time Magazine took a deep dive into Trump‘s feelings on several issues. The former president discussed using the National Guard to assist in mass deportations of undocumented immigrants should he be elected. He floated the possibility of pardoning January 6th participants as well as the possibility of weaponizing the Department of Justice. He once again brought up the potential of an unfair election should he lose and regarding the use of violence, Time says Trump “did not dismiss the possibility outright and did not proactively say anything to deter supporters from again resorting to it.” Thank goodness John Rothmann, Presidential historian, political analyst, and former KGO talk show host will be here to discuss it all. According to the FDA, recent tests of milk show one in five samples containing Bird Flu Virus fragments. It indicates infections in dairy cows are widespread. The FDA insists the food supply is safe. 24 ABR. 2024 · Tennessee teachers are step closer to carrying guns in the classroom. Yesterday, Tennessee House Republicans passed legislation to allow some trained teachers and school staff to carry handguns. Democrats, students, and gun-reform advocates rallied against the bill. Protesters in the galleries chanted "Blood on your hands" as the legislation passed. Many had to be removed from the gallery as the proceedings came to a standstill. We’ll talk to John Rothmann, our presidential historian and political analyst, about protests on college campuses coast coast and funding for Ukraine. We’ll also welcome Karen Friedman Agnifilo to the show. She is the former number 2 at the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office and former Acting DA. She hosts the Legal AF podcast on Meidas Touch. 23 ABR. 2024 · The Supreme Court dismissed an appeal filed by Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake yesterday and they did so without comment. It was a complete brush off her lawsuit challenging the use of electronic voting machines in Arizona. Lake had questioned whether the machines gave a fair and accurate vote count. She and her team provided no evidence that the machines had ever been hacked or that she had ever been harmed by any miscount - only that it could happen in the future. Two lower courts dismissed the suit, before the Supreme Court did the same. Over at the Trump hush money trial, opening arguments centered on election corruption and influencing. Prosecutors said Trump “orchestrated a criminal scheme to corrupt the 2016 presidential election”. The defense said “there’s nothing wrong with trying to influence an election – it’s called democracy”.  Outside the courthouse, Trump tested the limits of his gag order calling Michael Cohen, his former attorney, a liar. Cohen will likely be a witness in this case and Trump has been ordered not to attack jurors or witnesses. Contempt of court anyone? 22 ABR. 2024 · On the first day of former President Donald Trump's trial, the proceedings started  with a focus on key witnesses, including David Pecker.  Pecker is a longtime ally of Trump and the CEO of American Media Inc. and has been known to kill damaging stories about Trump in a "catch and kill" scheme.  We'll review the way it was done. Pecker's testimony is anticipated to shed light on Trump's connections to hush-money payments and potential campaign finance violations, adding another layer to the complex legal battle surrounding Trump. Meatime, a federal bankruptcy judge is allowing creditors to hire a specialized team to investigate Rudy Giuliani’s sources of income, assets and liabilities.  Giuliani’s chapter 11 case was filed three days after he lost a defamation lawsuit brought by two poll workers.  Some political analysts are tying the passage of the Ukraine funding bill in the house to a sinking presidential campaign for Donald Trump. 19 ABR. 2024 · Days after Iran sent a barrage of missiles and drones toward Israel, that were largely knocked down, Israel responded. Iranian officials say their air defenses intercepted three drones and there were no reports of missiles. The back and forth, at a time when Israel is already at war with Hamas, is stoking fears of a regional escalation. Job number one for the Democrats heading into this presidential election: knock out the third-party candidates. Specifically, Democrats are said to be mounting an aggressive effort against Robert F. Kennedy Jr. The Democratic National Committee has reportedly put together a unit dedicated to disabling Kennedy and other third-party candidates. We will talk about it all with journalist and political analyst Michael Shure. Taylor Swift’s new song “Florida” shows that she understands what the state is about.
