31 OCT. 2024 · (1:15) Lucy Tuson and I visited West Cornwall Hospital last week to meet with Peggy Sloan, a Royal Cornwall Hospitals NHS trust staff nurse, who is retiring after an NHS career spanning more than 45 years! Lucy asks Peggy questions regarding her time in the NHS and what some of her favourite and most rewarding moments were.
(10:37) As part of our Cost improvement plan here at RCHT, Pete and I met with Chief Pharmacist Iain Davidson to discuss the medical waste we currently have in our hospitals and how reducing this would be a great example of a way in which we can make significant savings without detriment to patient care, all whilst reducing the waste itself.

They discuss DLD, Hermione's journey to diagnosis, and how the speech therapy team supports children with DLD.

17 OCT. 2024 · (1:06) Allister Grant, RCHT’s Chief Medical Officer, will be in the studio reflecting on his time at the hospital and in Cornwall as he prepares for his retirement at the end of the month.

3 OCT. 2024 · It’s Cyber Awareness Month! And we are joined by Martin Price who is Cyber Security lead at Cornwall IT Services and will be telling us what we need to look out for to keep us safe as the festive season approaches.
CHBN African vibes host Richard, otherwise known as Richybongo, is on the show to talk about what it’s been like for him moving to Cornwall from Nigeria, how he’s been engaging with listeners on his new radio show, and to wish Nigeria a happy independence day.
It’s also Freedom to speak up month so Kim O’Keefe, our Chief Nursing officer and Steve Williamson, chief executive join us to discuss the importance of speaking up and how our senior leadership team are always here to support anybody with a concern.

26 SEP. 2024 · (1:05) This week is national inclusion week and with us in the studio is Nycki Gray-Cooper who is the chair of our allies network and recently gave a presentation on her lived experience of being an Ally.
(14:20) Our colleague Amanda and Pete met with Martin Kitts who’s been a organ donation recipient on three occasions over the past 34 years and has also recently taken part in the British Transplant Games.
(23:21) We’ll have more information about the transplant process and where you can find out about becoming an organ doner with Sarah Jarvis – The clinical lead for organ donation at Royal Cornwall Hospital.

12 SEP. 2024 · In recognition of World Sepsis Day this Friday, Suzanne Barber returns to talk about sepsis, recent changes at Royal Cornwall Hospitals, and what the team has planned for the event.
We speak with Angela Gibbon, a consultant physio at Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, about her team's impactful work in the community, which led to their shortlist for the national Chief Allied Health Professions Officer's award for innovation and improvement in an integrated care system.
Plus, we'll have Eve Tucker's weekly green tip, where she'll share details about the Big River Watch.
