It's Me Thriving

Vulnerability.
Daring.
Fear.
Self-Acceptance.
Self-Trust.
I need work on all of those.
All of those things, words, elements, characteristics within that image up there, I could stand to improve upon.
As we all know life isn't this fixed destination, but rather an ever-shifting journey.
My name is Guy Macpherson, PhD. I’m host of The Trauma Therapist Podcast.
Over the course of the last several years I’ve interviewed hundreds of incredible guests and now coming up on 1000 interviews!
One of my greatest take-aways from all of these interviews is the importance of authenticity, or simply being who we are.This process and becoming and being the best version of ourselves isn't a straight line with some hockey stick curve swopping up to amazingness.
For many of us it's a slow one-step-forward, three-step-back plodding, speckled with glimpses of excitement and inspiration.
I remember the first time I experienced being in a group process in graduate school. I remember that nervous feeling and the excitement about what it would mean to share, to reveal myself, to share my thoughts and feelings with the others in the group.
But once the group settled in and we were able to trust and feel safe everything began to flow.I love being in a group of people who are committed to learning about themselves so that they can become the best version of themselves.
This is what my new program https://thetraumatherapistproject.squarespace.com/itsmethriving is all about.
I'm committed to creating an incredible group process.
I've been doing this for a long time now and love it.
The strength and power and the revelations that come from being part of an incredible group can allow us to see our own selves in a way we might not otherwise be able to.
We'll share our story.
We'll support each other and be supported and encouraged.

18 JUL. 2024 · Lisa is a recognized expert in the strengths-based, depathologized treatment of trauma and has been in private practice for 34 years. She presents workshops and keynote addresses nationally and internationally, and is a clinical consultant to practitioners and mental health agencies in the United States, Canada, and UK and Ireland.
Lisa has been an Adjunct Faculty member at University of Maryland School of Social Work, University of Baltimore at Maryland, University of Maryland Department of Family Medicine, and is the Founder of The Ferentz Institute -- formerly known as The Institute for Advanced Psychotherapy Training and Education -- now in its 17th year of providing continuing education to mental health professionals and graduating over 1,400 clinicians from her two Certificate Programs in Advanced Trauma Treatment.
In 2009, she was voted the “Social Worker of Year” by the Maryland Society for Clinical Social Work.

Healing Sexual Trauma with Erika Shershun
15 JUL. 2024 · Erika Shershun, MA, LMFT, is a somatic psychotherapist who specializes in helping sexual trauma survivors reclaim the life they were meant to live.
She’s the author of the Healing Sexual Trauma Workbook, and the Healing Sexual Trauma Guided Journal (Oct. 2024 release). She's also the facilitator of the PESI Sexual Trauma Clinical Training, and the upcoming Sexual Trauma Healing Journey.
Her approach is trauma-informed, rooted in somatic principles, and draws on neuroscience as well as integrative modalities like EMDR and energy psychology.

Recovering Stolen Childhoods with Shari Botwin
1 JUL. 2024 · Shari Botwin, LCSW, has been counseling survivors in recovery from all types of traumas in her Cherry Hill, New Jersey private practice for over twenty-eight years.
Her second book, “Thriving After Trauma: Stories of Living and Healing, Rowman & Littlefield,” (Rowman & Littlefield, November 8, 2019) deals with overcoming trauma including physical and sexual abuse, war-related injury, loss due to tragedy or illness and natural disaster. Shari’s third book, Stolen Childhoods, is due out May 7, 2024. She has been chosen by Tantor Media to narrate the audiobook, which comes out on June 11, 2024.
She is a regular guest trauma expert on the Law and Crime Network. Additionally, Botwin has served as an expert witness in high profile cases of sexual assault and childhood abuse. In July 2022 Botwin presented a webinar for the Trauma and Recovery Institute in China on the role of an eating disorder in staying stuck in childhood abuse. Botwin has conducted Keynote presentations for dozens of universities, and given expert on-air commentary on breaking stories related to trauma (Covid-19) on a variety of international media outlets.

The Great Unravelling. A life with DID with Holly and Dylan Crumpler
27 JUN. 2024 · Holly and Dylan Crumpler are a mother-son team of enthusiastic advocates working to reduce the stigma associated with Dissociative Identity Disorder. Given that D.I.D. has historically been depicted in a very inaccurate, sensationalized, and negative way in film and television, Dylan envisioned and created his senior thesis film, Petals of a Rose, at Chapman University to realistically depict a day in the life of a woman with D.I.D. He co-wrote the screenplay with his mother, Holly, who was diagnosed with D.I.D. in 2018 at the age of 51.
Petals of a Rose has received international acclaim, and Dylan and Holly have gone on to share the film at numerous mental health conferences and educational events. The film is being used by clinicians in training sessions, college courses, and therapeutic settings. Given the incredibly positive reception the film has received, Dylan and Holly have begun development of a longer film/series expanding on Rose’s story.
