WALKING THE HILL IN THESE SHOES is not just your usual compilation of interviews! These are women who have made things happen on and off Capitol Hill, mostly behind the scenes and uncelebrated. Stay tuned for some well-known surprise guests who will give a unique perspective on our body politic. ABOUT ME
I am originally from West Virginia (an actual coal miner's daughter) and began my career in state government that eventually led me to Washington, DC where I spent close to 5-years working for my Senator, Jay Rockefeller.
As most do in Washington, I left the Hill to join a lobbying firm, McAuliffe, Kelly and Raffaelli - a tenure that would last almost 18 years. I am now operating a boutique firm - Washington Premier Group. I guess you could say that I have walked miles in these heels.

An interview with Ms. Cherri Branson
In this episode of Walking the Hill in These Shoes, I speak with Ms. Cherri Branson, former Capitol Hill staffer. Ms. Branson adeptly walks us through the back-story on the House Homeland Security Committee while working for Chairman Bennie Thompson, who is the current Chairman who filed suit against former President Donald Trump under the Klu Klux Klan Act of 1871. Since Thompson's filing, the NAACP and 10 more members of Congress have joined the lawsuit, which allows for civil action to be taken against anyone who uses "force, intimidation, or threat" to prevent anyone from carrying out the official duties of their office, which was the goal of the capitol insurrection on January 6th—preventing Congress from certifying the electoral votes for Joe Biden.
About Cherri Branson:
Ms. Branson hails from Shepherdstown, West Virginia. She served on the Montgomery County Council, and was also Director of Procurement representing District 5. She is currently third Vice President of the Montgomery County NAACP, a member of the Montgomery County Policing Advisory Commission and a member of the County Executive’s African American Advisory Group. She previously served on the County’s Charter Review Commission, the Redistricting Committee and the Hate/Violence Committee of the Office of Human Rights.
31 MAR. 2021 · In the inaugural episode of Walking the Hill in These Shoes, Christina Metzler, formerly with the American Association of Occupational Therapists well-known among Members of Congress and staff, talks with Tonya Saunders about a mysterious woman on the Hill, who inspired her in the 80’s and many others since. That same member today wields power as Chair of the Financial Services Committee in the US House of Representatives.
