Bringing Women Warriors into the narrative.
Tina & Miriam, actresses and stage fighters, are passionate about stage fighting and the historical context of fights. Too many times they've been asked to perform as male (fighting) characters, so they thought: "There must have been more women throughout history who have fought." It turns out - there was.
Women warriors are assumed to be historical anomalies, but we want to shed light on a different story. Whether she is a commander, leading the troops with high morale and working on strategy and tactics, fighting at the front with a sword in her hand, or rebelling from captivity, she is a warrior in her own right.

While we will never find out all the details about the Amazons or who they really were, more and more archeological findings show that there were many female fighters thousands of years ago. Many of them amongst the Scythian tribes. These women could in fact have been the real inspiration to Greek mythology - which has since inspired us over and over again for thousands of years.
It leaves the question - where the Amazons myth, legend or real?

26 MAY. 2023 · The Onna Bugeisha were a female warrior class in Japan, who lived during a time when it was tradition to train women to fight to protect the household. They were numerous and as skilled and honorable as the samurai in the art of combat, archery, martial arts and horseback riding.
While they were mainly trained to protect the household, some of them fought on the battlefield along side the men, the samurai, and earned the title of Onna Musha. They honored the same warrior code as the samurai known as bushidó.

9 SEP. 2022 · The Kingdom of Dahomey, West Africa, ca. 1600-1900. A fierce and all female military unit known to the Europeans as the Dahomey Amazons fought in the front line of every battle with their neighboring tribes. Known in their own language as the Mino these women died for their king and "threw themselves at their enemy". They raided, took captives and killed. But why did they fight and why were they chosen to be warriors?
Join us, as we talk about these fascinating women who are still remembered today in not only local oral tradition but also in much of the African descendant world. "Conquer or die!"
