Grey and B_Don go through a draft of the top 25 fantasy baseball players for 2024. We discuss where the tier breaks are in the rankings. Where did the draft go from clear to hazy to muddied. After we draft our 25, we talk about some of the other players that belong in the conversation for the rest of top 40. Grey and B_Don are here for the last podcast for the 2023 season (we’ll be back next week, but doing our 2024 draft). After Grey vents about the Ronald Acuna Jr. and Mookie Betts real MVP discussion, we move on to the fantasy MVP award discussion. Cody Bellinger might take home the fantasy MVP and comeback player award for 2023, but do we believe for 2024? Up next, we talk about some of the top pitcher values in Zach Eflin, Justin Steele, Kodai Senga, Pablo Lopez, and Kyle Bradish. We preliminarily rank the group of starters for 2024. Then, we talk about some of the other fantasy comebacks, most improved, and breakouts for guys like: Josh Lowe, Jake Burger, Jorge Soler, and CJ Abrams. Before we wrap up with waivers and bullpen talk, we discuss what players are our best and worst calls from 2023.

Grey and B_Don discuss who should take home the MVP, Cy Young, and Rookie of the Year awards for both leagues. We called the MVP race months ago, but do we still think so? The Cy Young for the National League is anyone’s guess even at this late stage of the season. Then, we take some time and talk about the Rookie of the Year candidates and what we expect from them next year for production and ADP. After we get through with the awards, we take a look at some of the best second half performers and if we expect them to carry it over into 2024.

Grey and B_Don talk about a couple young pitchers who ran into some trouble in George Kirby and Cole Ragans. We continue to talk about who might be the top prospect drafted next year following the Jasson Dominguez injury. Maybe it could be another late season call-up in Jordan Lawlar, Pete Crow-Armstrong, or Evan Carter. The Angels are open to trading Mike Trout, and we’re sure they’d trade Anthony Rendon if they could too. It was announced that one of the top Japanese pitchers, Shota Imanaga, will be posted to MLB this offseason. Ryan Pepiot is in the Dodgers rotation now, but could Grey trust Gavin Stone again?

Grey and B_Don start the show with some discussion about the Julio Urias situation. We talk about setting lineups for stretch runs and the amazingness that is Ronald Acuna Jr. We talk about a few of the recent MLB team claims made by the two Ohio teams.Next, we move on to talk about the September call-ups. The Yankees made a few including Jasson Dominguez, Austin Wells, and Randy Vasquez. We also talk about the call-ups and recalls of Alexander Canario, Ronny Mauricio, Brett Baty, Emmet Sheehan, Kyren Paris, Xavier Edwards, Tyler Soderstrom, and Jose Tena.

Grey and B_Don wildly speculate what the future may look like for one of the greatest players baseball has ever seen following his injury. Then, we move on to talk about some of the week’s call-ups. We discuss the Yankees duo of Everson Pereira and Oswald Peraza being brought up. Over in California, the Dodgers have called up MIchael Busch and Gavin Stone while the Giants have recalled Heliot Ramos. Hunter Goodman and Jacob Young both moved up multiple levels and now have their opportunity at the MLB level. Wilyer Abreu got the call-up from the Red Sox, but then as he went on paternity leave, we get another surprise with Ceddanne Rafaela getting called up. We wrap up the show by playing everyone’s favorite Anchorman themed game of Scientific Fact, Sex Panther, or I Don’t Believe You with some second half pitching performers.

Grey and B_Don discuss some of the late season call-ups that are getting an opportunity even before the September roster expansion. We start in Cincinnati with Noelvi Marte’s call-up. Then, we move on to the Cardinals call-up of Masyn Winn. The Giants made a few different moves by bringing up Kyle Harrison, Luis Matos, and Wade Meckler. Nolan Schanuel was called up by the Angels after all of 21 games in the minors. Parker Meadows is getting his opportunity with the Tigers too. We move on and talk about a couple guys returning from injury in Royce Lewis and Bo Bichette. Where does Grey see himself ranking Bo for 2024? We finish up with everyone’s favorite game, Scientific Fact, Sex Panther, or I Don’t Believe You with some of the less expected names on the player rater.

Grey and B_Don start the show talking about the news surrounding Wander Franco. While we wait for news, we discuss what could happen in Tampa Bay while he’s away from the team. We move on from that topic to discuss some possible September call-ups. We talk about the possibility of seeing Masyn Winn, Jackson Holliday, Heston Kjerstad, and others. If you’re reading this, one name I forgot to mention that I meant to was a return of Royce Lewis. After talking about some of the possible call-ups on the way, we move on to some that already have been called up. We discuss Eury Perez’s role and value, Lawrence Butler, Luken Baker, Nelson Velazquez, and a few others. We next talk about the return of a couple former top fantasy players in Trevor Story and Chris Sale.

Tim Anderson got knocked the F OUT (warning: Grey may or may not curse in the intro)! Would you lay a heavy tag on Jose Ramirez after watching that? Is JRam about to lead the league in stolen bases the rest of the season? Anyway, we move on to talk about the trades that occurred after we recorded our last show. Justin Verlander returns to Houston. A couple of closers were on the move in Paul Sewald and Scott Barlow. Tommy Pham, Jeimer Candelario, and Paul Dejong were some of the bats on the move, but are they worth rostering? Aaron Civale, Michael Lorenzen, Jack Flaherty, and Ryan Yarbrough are now starting for new teams and might be worth starting for your fantasy team. We talk about some pitchers returning from long IL stints in Brandon Woodruff, Nestor Cortes, Max Fried, and Jose Urquidy. We go through a few more call-ups/recalls and then finish up with waivers and bullpen notes.

Grey and B_Don discuss the baseball trades that happened and what they might mean for the players involved and those still on rosters. We start with the Rangers who added a few arms in Max Scherzer, Jordan Montgomery, and Chris Stratton. The Angles have also been busy with the additions of Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez from the White Sox, along with Randal Grichuk and CJ Cron from the Rockies.  Toronto plus a whole in their bullpen following the Jordan Romano injury by grabbing Jordan Hicks from the Cardinals. In what was a series of confusing moves to the guys, the Dodgers added Amed Rosario, Kike Hernandez, Lance Lynn, and Joe Kelly. A couple closers were on the move in David Robertson and Kendall Graveman.  We also cover the call-ups from the week. Marco Luciano has been brought up, but is he ready? Elehuris Montero was also brought up and with the injuries and trades made by the Rockies, he might get some playing time. Oscar Gonzales was recalled by the Guardians after a disappointing start to 2023. Will Grey be back in on AJ Smith-Shawver?
