Non so se vi ho già parlato del mio calendario, però nel caso ve ne parlo un'altra volta, perché ogni volta che ricevo il calendario è una grandissima gioia e oggi ho ricevuto il mio calendario.
Di cosa si tratta? È un calendario che viene dall'Australia e ho cominciato a usarlo, fatemi un po' pensare, mio figlio ancora non era nemmeno nato, quindi parliamo di più di vent'anni fa.

Cos'ha di speciale il calendario? È il calendario che viene prodotto ogni anno dall'istituto di meteorologia australiano, ed è un calendario molto grande, con delle bellissime fotografie che ritraggono varie parti dell'Australia con vari fenomeni atmosferici, quindi potete ben immaginare questi cieli belli, profondi, pazzeschi, australiani colorati, turbinii di venti, neve, sì, c'è anche la neve in Australia.

Perché mi piace tanto? Perché nella parte dove ci sono i giorni dei mesi ha dei quadrati abbastanza grandi che mi permettono di scrivere, di usare praticamente come agenda familiare, quando c'è qualcosa, appuntamenti, medici, visite, amici che vengono a cena, noi che andiamo da qualche parte, o compro biglietti per il teatro, lo scrivo nel calendario così ce l'ho sotto gli occhi e anche le altre persone che trafficano la mia casa ce l'hanno sotto gli occhi, poi naturalmente io sul mio tavolo ho il mio calendario dove scrivo le cose, riscrivo anche le cose già scritte nel calendario grande in cucina e anche le riscrivo nel calendario elettronico che contemporaneamente ho sia sul cellulare che sul computer, perché così ce l'ho da più parti e dove butto l'occhio, vedo che ho quell'appuntamento.

La cosa bella di questo calendario è che è un legame che ho con l'Australia e anche con i miei amici in Australia perché il primissimo calendario dell'istituto di meteorologia me lo regalò la mia amica Kathleen. All'epoca ci vedevamo spesso, ma soprattutto, prima delle vacanze di Natale ci si incontrava tutti e ci si scambiava dei regali, anche piccole cose, anche perché molti di noi erano ancora studenti, quindi non è che avessimo molti soldi, però c'era sempre il gusto di scambiarsi i regali, e ricordo che Kathleen mi regalò, lei, questo bellissimo calendario e da allora io sono andata a cercarmelo e ogni anno lo ordino, lo ordino con molto anticipo, perché anzi, questa volta sono molto sorpresa che sia arrivato dopo qualche settimana che l'ho ordinato perché di solito lo ordino a novembre e mi arriva all'inizio di gennaio, quindi felice e contenta, ora l'ho appeso perché mi arriva nel rotolo, quindi così si srotola, da qua a gennaio sarà bello e pronto per l'uso a scriverci le mie cose sopra.

Why do I like it so much? Because in the part where there are the days of the months it has quite big squares that allow me to write, to use practically as a family agenda, when there is something, appointments, doctors, visits, friends coming for dinner, us going somewhere, or I buy theater tickets, I write it in the calendar so I have it in front of my eyes and also the other people who go around my house have it in front of their eyes, then of course I have on my table my calendar where I write things down, I also rewrite the things already written down in the big calendar in the kitchen, and I also rewrite them in the electronic calendar that at the same time I have both on my phone and on my computer, because that way I have it in several places and where I cast my eye, I see that I have that appointment.

The nice thing about this calendar is that it's a connection I have with Australia and also with my friends in Australia because the very first Weather Institute calendar was given to me by my friend Kathleen. At that time we used to see each other a lot, but most importantly, before the Christmas vacations we would all meet and exchange gifts, even small things, also because many of us were still students, so it's not like we had a lot of money, however there was always the enjoyment of exchanging gifts, and I remember Kathleen gave me, she, this beautiful calendar and ever since then I went looking for it and every year I order it, I order it well in advance, because indeed, this time I'm very surprised that it came after a few weeks that I ordered it because I usually order it in November and it comes to me at the beginning of January, so happy and glad, now I've hung it up because it comes to me in the roll, so it unrolls, from here to January it will be flat and ready for use to write my things on it.
