May is National Mental Health Awareness Month and joining me this week is psychotherapist, Dr. Gary Osborne. We know that mental health is very important to our overall health and wellbeing. According to NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, in 2020, 21% of adults in the United States experienced mental illness, that’s one in five or almost 53 million. One out of every six between the ages of 6 and 17 experience a mental health disorder. Mental health and mental illness are frequently underreported. Those who suffer from Mental illness are 40% more likely to have high blood pressure, high cholesterol, and diabetes. Hear how Dr. Osborne helps his patients in rural West Tennessee as the facility where he works practices integrated healthcare.
