Congenital heart defects are the most common birth defect in the U.S. nearly 1% of―or about 40,000―births per year. Andrea Baer is VP of Mended Little Hearts and National Committee Chair. After the birth of her 3rd child, he was diagnosed with a Congenital Heart Defect. He needed open heart surgery to survive. Andrea says that she was very afraid and alone and almost immediately after his surgery, she felt compelled to make a difference in the lives of families who were facing the same journey.
