Story Transcript:

Ga: Ar oíche fhliuch, stoirmiúil i mBaile Átha Cliath, shiúil Aoife isteach i dteach tábhairne cluthar sa chathair.
En: On a wet, stormy night in Dublin, Aoife walked into a warm pub in the city.

Ga: Bhí an áit plódaithe ach bhain Aoife agus a cara Séamus tamall deas amach dóibh féin cois tine.
En: The place was crowded, but Aoife and her friend Séamus managed to find a nice spot beside the fire.

Ga: Bhí tine mhór lasta agus bhí teas agus fáilte sna daoine.
En: There was a big fire roaring, and there was warmth and welcome among the people.

Ga: "Ní mór dom pionta Guinness a bhfuil fonn orm," arsa Aoife, agus chuaigh sí go dtí an beáir chun dí a ordú.
En: "I must have a pint of Guinness," said Aoife, and she went to the bar to order one.

Ga: Ach, sa mheascán agus i ngan fhios aici féin, dúirt Aoife leis an bhfear ag an beáir, "Tabhair dom baraille Guinness, le do thoil!
En: But, in the mix and without her realizing, Aoife told the man at the bar, "Give me a barrel of Guinness, please!"

Ga: "Bhí an fear ag an beáir mearbhall ach ceapadh leis gur ag magadh a bhí Aoife.
En: The bartender was confused, thinking Aoife was joking.

Ga: Dá bhrí sin, rinne sé gáire agus chuir sé glaoch ar an solathraí.
En: Therefore, he laughed and called the bartender.

Ga: Ba ghearr go raibh baraille mór Guinness seachadta go dtí an tábhairne le hainm Aoife scríofa air.
En: Quickly, a large barrel of Guinness was delivered to the pub with Aoife's name written on it.

Ga: "Seo duit, a Aoife!
En: "Here you go, Aoife!

Ga: Ní fhaca mé riamh duine chomh tartmhar leatsa!
En: I've never seen anyone as thirsty as you!"

Ga: " a dúirt an fear le gáire mór.
En: said the man with a big laugh.

Ga: Chuaigh Aoife ar ais go Séamus agus nuair a chonaic sé an méid seo, chuir sé a cheann ina lámha.
En: Aoife went back to Séamus, and when he saw this, he put his head in his hands.

Ga: "A Aoife, cad é a rinne tú?
En: "Aoife, what did you do?"

Ga: "Bhí Aoife préachta le náire agus ní raibh sí cinnte cad ba cheart di a dhéanamh.
En: Aoife was embarrassed and wasn't sure what she should do.

Ga: Ach ansin, smaoinigh Séamus ar phlean.
En: But then, Séamus thought of a plan.

Ga: "Déanfaimid cóisir mhór!
En: "Let's have a big party!"

Ga: " a dúirt Séamus le gáire.
En: Séamus said with a laugh.

Ga: "Cuirfimid fógraí timpeall an bhaile agus tarraingeoidh muid slua mór!
En: "We'll put up posters around town, and we'll draw a big crowd!"

Ga: "Le cabhair ó dhaoine sa tábhairne, chroch Séamus agus Aoife fógraí ag rá go raibh cóisir mhór le Guinness saor in aisce ar siúl sa tábhairne sin an oíche sin.
En: With help from people in the pub, Séamus and Aoife hung posters saying there was a big Guinness party in that pub that night, all free.

Ga: Tháinig a lán daoine, óga agus aosta, chuig an tábhairne agus bhain siad sult as an oíche le ceol agus damhsa.
En: Many people, young and old, came to the pub and enjoyed the night with music and dancing.

Ga: D'ól siad an Guinness agus bhí an tábhairne lán go doras.
En: They drank Guinness and the pub was packed.

Ga: Bhí an t-ádh dearg le Aoife nuair a tháinig úinéir an tí tábhairne chuici.
En: Aoife was in luck when the pub owner came to her.

Ga: "A Aoife, is tú an custaiméir is fearr atá againn riamh!
En: "Aoife, you're the best customer we've ever had!"

Ga: ", a dúirt sé go hard agus aoibh an gháire air.
En: he said loudly, a big smile on his face.

Ga: Leis sin, thit Aoife agus Séamus i mbun cainte agus gáire agus bhí deireadh maith, tús maith acu.
En: With that, Aoife and Séamus started talking and laughing, and they had a good end, a good start.

Ga: Bhí an baraille Guinness ite agus bhí cáirdeas níos láidre idir Aoife, Séamus, agus muintir an tábhairne áitiúil.
En: The barrel of Guinness was finished, and there was a stronger friendship between Aoife, Séamus, and the people of the local pub.

Ga: Ón oíche sin amach, bhí Aoife agus Séamus ar eolas ag cách mar lánúin a thug cóisir na bliana do Bhaile Átha Cliath.
En: From then on, everyone knew Aoife and Séamus as the couple who gave Dublin the party of the year.

Ga: Agus ní dhearna Aoife dearmad go deo ar an uair a d'ordaigh sí baraille in ionad pionta Guinness!
En: And Aoife never forgot the time she ordered a barrel instead of a pint of Guinness!
