But what about the Yonkers-based satanic cult of which Berkowitz claims to have been a member? Is there any evidence that such a cult existed and had already been active for many years when the Sam shootings began? Before Son of Sam definitively answers that question. In my novel The Agent I wrote about a fictionalized version of the cult; this is the bizarre, terrifying reality.

I'm the author who was interviewed on this show. Since last speaking with Ed, I located a source and learned that two members of the Yonkers cult abducted a child in 1971: the same year that Jim Rothstein's pimp informant told him that kids were being ritually sacrificed and then buried in Untermyer Park. (The child was brought to Yonkers, but survived.) Multiple witnesses recounted this same story of murdered children to police, but the investigation was quashed. Many of the kids were taken from an orphanage in Westchester County; a few months ago, I contacted a former administrator at that facility and got a response that could charitably be described as odd.
