Be The Coffee Bean

When Damon West was getting ready to go to prison, An elderly gentleman in the holding tank said to him, "Boy, I'm gonna tell you something that's gonna help you while you're in prison. You need to be the coffee bean."

Damon West said, " I don't follow."

The elderly gentleman said "This is the deal. If you take the pot of boiling water and you put a carrot in the pot of boiling water. What happens to that carrot? It becomes soft and flaccid. It has no structure anymore, no foundation. It's just limp and flaccid."

"What happens if you put an egg in the pot of boiling water? Well, it becomes hard. Hard on the outside and soft in the middle. It's just a hard crust, a hard exterior. It gets changed by the boiling water, just like the carrot. But... you take that same pot of boiling water and you put in a coffee bean. What happens to it? The coffee bean is the only thing that is not changed by the water but yet changes the water."
