En: The entire cafeteria fell silent.

En: Bjorn felt his hands sweating, but he stood his ground.
Nl: “Laat haar met rust,” herhaalde hij.
En: “Leave her alone,” he repeated.
Nl: Mark lachte hard.
En: Mark laughed loudly.
Nl: “Kijk eens wie we hier hebben.
En: “Look who we have here.
Nl: De stille boekenwurm,” zei hij.
En: The quiet bookworm,” he said.
Nl: Maar Bjorn gaf niet toe.
En: But Bjorn didn't back down.
Nl: “Pesten is fout,” zei hij vastberaden.
En: “Bullying is wrong,” he said firmly.
Nl: De andere leerlingen begonnen te fluisteren.
En: The other students began to whisper.
En: Mark saw that he wasn't winning and decided to walk away.
Nl: De spanning ebde weg.

En: Emma looked at Bjorn with wide eyes.

En: They took a seat together at a table.
En: As they ate, they started to talk.
Nl: Eerst over school, toen over hun hobby’s.
En: First about school, then about their hobbies.
En: Emma slowly began to feel at ease.
En: She laughed again, but this time sincerely.
Nl: En Bjorn voelde zich sterker.
En: And Bjorn felt stronger.
En: He was proud of himself for daring to intervene.
Nl: Zo begon een nieuwe vriendschap.
En: Thus began a new friendship.
Nl: Emma kon eindelijk haar onzekerheden delen.
En: Emma could finally share her insecurities.

En: Their meeting in the cafeteria was the beginning of something beautiful.
En: They had found each other, and together they would grow.
En: When the bell rang, they stood up together.
