Brisbane junkyard swamp rock outfit Bricklayers are set to release their debut album Tan Black and Brown on August 9, with the boys joining us for a chat on their way to rehearsal.
It is clear from the outset that Bricklayers are a band who take little seriously, and are all the more fresher and relevant for it.
"We recorded the album over the course of a year or so with three or four sessions in the studio," vocalist/guitarist Nathan Glen explained. "We just clawed away at it. Nothing too crazy went down, it just kind of came together I guess (laughs)".
As for goals for the album Glen was typically flippant.
"Well the goal was to record an album", he laughed, "and we did that! That was about it really..."
In the full interview, Bricklayers discuss latest single 'Window' and what inspired it, the intriguing film clip, the sound of the album, their formation from humble beginnings and why they chose to continue, what junkyard swamp rock actually is, creating your own genre, the upcoming launch parties and more.
