Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá breá grianmhar a bhí ann, agus shocraigh Seán dul chuig na hAillte Móra i gContae an Chláir.
En: It was a beautiful sunny day, and Seán decided to go to the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare.

Ga: Bhí scéal ársa ag croílár an áite seo, scéal faoi leipreacháin draíochtúla a chónaíonn i bhfolach faoi scáth na n-aillte, ag coinneáil a gcuid óir rúnda ó shúile an tsaoil.
En: There was an ancient tale at the heart of this place, a story about magical leprechauns living hidden beneath the shadow of the cliffs, keeping their secret gold away from the eyes of the world.

Ga: Seán, fear óg cróga a bhí ann, agus bhí sé cinnte go bhféadfadh sé leipreachán a ghabháil.
En: Seán, a brave young man, was sure he could catch a leprechaun.

Ga: Bhí sé cinnte freisin go raibh an t-ádh le fáil ina lámha.
En: He was also sure that luck was on his side.

Ga: Chun dul i mbun an turais seo, ghlac se cúpla ceann dá chairde, Aoife agus Cillian, leis.
En: To embark on this journey, he took a few of his friends, Aoife and Cillian, with him.

Ga: I ndiaidh siúil fada trasna na faiche, shroich siad imeall na Aillte Móra.
En: After a long walk across the fields, they reached the edge of the Cliffs of Moher.

Ga: Shíl Seán go gcloisfeadh sé gáire ciúin ag dul le gaoth na mara, ach ní raibh ann ach tuairim na ngaoth.
En: Seán thought he would hear a quiet chuckle carried by the sea breeze, but there was only the sound of the wind.

Ga: "Aoife, a chroí, an bhfuil tú réidh chun cabhrú liom?" arsa Seán, súil go gconaí ina shúile.
En: "Aoife, my dear, are you ready to help me?" said Seán, his eyes always in hers.

Ga: "Tá, Sea. Ach conas a bheimid ábalta leipreachán a ghabháil?" fhreagair Aoife.
En: "Yes, Seán. But how can we catch a leprechaun?" replied Aoife.

Ga: "Caithfimid a bheith ciúin agus géar," arsa Seán. "Caithfidh muid cloí leis na scéalta a chuala muid ó na seandaoine."
En: "We must be quiet and sharp," said Seán. "We must stick to the stories we heard from the old folks."

Ga: D'imigh siad i bhfolach i measc na gcarraigeacha, ag faire, agus ag éisteacht.
En: They hid among the rocks, watching and listening.

Ga: Chaith siad uaireanta ann, grian ag dul síos sa spéir, mar a sheinn na héin amhráin tráthnóna.
En: They spent hours there, the sun descending in the sky, like the birds singing evening songs.

Ga: Ansin, chuala Cillian rud éigin. "Psst! Seán! Aoife! Féach thar a bhfuil ann!"
En: Then, Cillian heard something. "Psst! Seán! Aoife! Look over there!"

Ga: Go tobann, chonaic siad ceann beag glas, ag glioscarnach in éadan na gréine atá ag dul faoi. Leipreachán!
En: Suddenly, they saw a small green figure, shimmering against the setting sun. A leprechaun!

Ga: Seán, ag dó na geirbe, d’imigh sé go tapa i dtreo an ghlaisín sin, ag iarraidh é a ghabháil.
En: Seán, on the edge, quickly went towards that small figure, trying to catch it.

Ga: Ach bhí an leipreachán cliste agus gasta. D’oscail sé poll draíochta sa talamh agus léim isteach ann.
En: But the clever and swift leprechaun opened a magic hole in the ground and jumped in.

Ga: "Tar éis!" arsa Seán, áfach, nílimid caillte fós."
En: "Come!" said Seán, "we're not lost yet."

Ga: Chroith Aoife a ceann. "Níl, Seán. Ba chóir dúinn meas a bheith againn ar an leipreachán agus a mhistéir."
En: Aoife shook her head. "No, Seán. We should have respect for the leprechaun and his mystery."

Ga: "An bhféadfaimis a iarraidh air in ionad é a ghabháil?" mhol Cillian.
En: "Could we ask him instead of catching him?" suggested Cillian.

Ga: Ansin, labhair an leipreachán as an bpoll draíochta. "A daoine óga, is í an chraobh sí an t-aon áit ina bhfuil mianach ór agus más mian libh páirt a bheith agaibh, caithfidh sibh foghlaim meas a léiriú ar an dúlra."
En: Then, the leprechaun spoke from the magic hole. "Young people, the true treasure is in the respect for nature rather than gold, and if you wish to participate, you must learn to respect the environment."

Ga: D’fhoghlaim Seán, Aoife, agus Cillian ceacht an lae sin.
En: Seán, Aoife, and Cillian learned a lesson that day.

Ga: Níl sa tóir ar ór ná ar shaibhreas ach eachtra, agus go bhfuil an dlí níos luachmhaire ná ór.
En: The pursuit of gold and wealth is cruel, and that the law is more valuable than gold.

Ga: Le náire, d’fhág siad na hAillte Móra, ach le croíthe lán d'áthas agus eagna, a bhfuil níos lú daoine eolach air.
En: With regret, they left the Cliffs of Moher, but with hearts full of happiness and wisdom that fewer people know about.

Ga: Ón lá sin i leith, nuair a ghluaiseann siad cois na hAillte Móra, tá gáire éisteachta acu, ach an uair seo, bíonn siad sásta leis an gaoth a bheith ag magadh seachas leipreachán a chuardach.
En: From that day on, when they move along the Cliffs of Moher, they hear laughter, but this time, they are content with the wind mocking rather than searching for a leprechaun.
