Story Transcript:
En: It was cold in Copenhagen that day.
En: Despite the falling snow, the small, cozy café next to Kongens Nytorv was bustling.
En: Lars, a lively man in his thirties, leaned against the café door.
Da: Hans øjne strøg hurtigt over de fyldte borde til hans veninde Mette sad henne i hjørnet.
En: His eyes quickly scanned the crowded tables until they landed on his friend Mette sitting in the corner.
Da: En lys skikkelse i det tunge tøj sad over for hende.
En: A bright figure in heavy clothing sat across from her.
Da: "Mikkel, er det dig?
En: "Mikkel, is that you?"
En: exclaimed Lars, reaching out his hand to the man at the table.
En: Mikkel was an old school friend he hadn't seen in years, and the figure looked just like him.
Da: Manden så forundret på Lars.
En: The man looked puzzled at Lars.
En: "Sorry, I think you're mistaking me for someone else."
Da: " Han smilede og rakte hånden ud.
En: He smiled and shook hands.
Da: "Jeg hedder Søren.
En: "My name is Søren."
En: "Lars can be a bit absent-minded at times."
En: Signe, another friend sitting at the nearby table, stood up with a smile.
En: "So you thought he was your old friend?
Da: Hold kæft, Lars, du skal have briller.
En: Geez, Lars, you need glasses."
En: Laughter erupted among the three friends and Søren.
Da: De bestilte kaffe og kager, og snakken gik lystigt.
En: They ordered coffee and cakes, and the conversation flowed cheerfully.
En: Funny misunderstandings and mistakes began to creep in among them.
En: Lars, still reeling from his error, started confusing more things.
En: He called the waiter "Mom" and when he ordered a sandwich, he asked for a "kammerjunker" (a type of Danish cookie).
En: Signe and Mette were almost splitting with laughter when Lars suddenly stood up and declared he needed to use the restroom.
Da: Han gik mod dametoilettet, før tjeneren forsigtigt rettede ham mod herrerne.
En: He headed towards the ladies' restroom before the waiter gently redirected him to the men's.
En: When Lars finally returned, everyone was looking at him, and all he could do was laugh.
En: "I think I've had too much coffee," he joked.
En: As they left the café, it was still cold, but none of them noticed.
En: They were too busy laughing and talking about Lars' mix-ups.
En: And even though it wasn't Mikkel at the café, it was a day they would all remember.
