Story Transcript:

Ga: Lá fuar geimhreadh a bhí ann i gCathair Bhaile Átha Cliath, áit a raibh sráideanna dubh le daoine ag siúl timpeall agus éadaí teo orthu.
En: It was a cold winter day in Dublin City, where black streets were busy with people walking around in warm clothes.

Ga: Bhí Seamus, fear ard le gruaig rua, ag siúl go tapa ar na cosáin chloiche.
En: Seamus, a tall man with red hair, walked quickly on the stone pathways.

Ga: Bhí sé ag dul go dtí a chara Fiona, bean óg le gáire geal ar a haghaidh.
En: He was going to meet his friend Fiona, a young woman with a bright smile.

Ga: "Seamus, cén fáth an bhfuil tú chomh deifir?
En: "Seamus, why are you in such a hurry?"

Ga: " arsa Fiona nuair a bhuail sé léi taobh amuigh den siopa leabhar.
En: said Fiona as he bumped into her outside the bookstore.

Ga: "Tá scéal iontach agam," arsa Seamus le gáire.
En: "I have a wonderful story," said Seamus with a smile.

Ga: "Chuala mé faoi phota óir atá curtha i bhfolach faoin gcathair seo, agus tá súil agam é a fháil!
En: "I heard about a pot of gold hidden in this city, and I hope to find it!"

Ga: "D'fhéach Fiona air le hamhras mór.
En: Fiona looked at him with great doubt.

Ga: "A Sheamuis, an bhfuil tú cinnte faoi seo?
En: "Seamus, are you sure about this?

Ga: B'fhéidir gur scéalta luchóige atá ann.
En: It might be just fairy tales."

Ga: "Ach níor chuala Seamus í.
En: But Seamus didn't listen.

Ga: Bhí a intinn socraithe.
En: His mind was made up.

Ga: "Tiocfaidh mé abhaile saibhir," a dúirt sé, agus d'imigh sé ar a thuras.
En: "I will come home rich," he said, and he went on his way.

Ga: Thug Seamus leis a chomharsa, Bridget, bean chríona a raibh aithne aici ar gach cúinne den chathair.
En: Seamus brought along his neighbor, Bridget, an old woman who knew every corner of the city.

Ga: "Tá a fhios agam cá bhfuil an áit," arsa Bridget go rúnda.
En: "I know where it is," whispered Bridget mysteriously.

Ga: Bhí Seamus lán dóchais.
En: Seamus was full of hope.

Ga: Shroich siad páirc álainn ar imeall na cathrach agus chonaic Seamus rud ait - ciorcal beag de chlocha le fásra ag fás timpeall air.
En: They reached a beautiful park on the edge of the city and Seamus saw something strange - a small circle of rocks with grass growing around it.

Ga: "Sin é!
En: "That's it!"

Ga: " arsa Bridget.
En: said Bridget.

Ga: "An áit a bhfuil an pota óir!
En: "The place where the pot of gold is!"

Ga: "Chuaigh Seamus isteach go cúramach sa chiorcal, ach go tobann, thit sé isteach i bpoll mór.
En: Seamus carefully entered the circle, but suddenly, he fell into a deep hole.

Ga: Bhí sé ina shuí ansin, i bpoll domhain sa talamh.
En: He was sitting there, in a deep hole in the ground.

Ga: "Bridget, cabhraigh liom!
En: "Bridget, help me!"

Ga: " ghlaodh Seamus.
En: called Seamus.

Ga: "Ó mo ghrásta!
En: "Oh my goodness!"

Ga: " arsa Bridget, ag rith timpeall an phoill, ag smaoineamh ar bhealaí chun Seamus a thabhairt amach.
En: said Bridget, running around the hole, thinking of ways to get Seamus out.

Ga: Ach ansin, chuala siad gáire binn ó áit éigin in aice láimhe.
En: But then, they heard sweet laughter from somewhere nearby.

Ga: D'fhéach siad suas agus chonaic siad leipreachán beag, ag caitheamh cóta uaine, agus é ag gáire leis féin.
En: They looked up and saw a little leprechaun, wearing a green coat, and laughing to himself.

Ga: "Ah, Seamus," arsa an leipreachán, "chéas tú isteach i mo ghaiste.
En: "Ah, Seamus," said the leprechaun, "you fell into my trap.

Ga: Ní bhfaighidh tú mo phota óir go héasca!
En: You won't easily find my pot of gold!"

Ga: "Bhí Seamus agus Bridget i gcleachtadh mór.
En: Seamus and Bridget were in a great dilemma.

Ga: Ach tháinig Fiona, a lean iad go ciúin, le rópa ina lámh.
En: But then Fiona, who followed them quietly, came with a rope in her hand.

Ga: "Seo duit," arsa Fiona, ag caitheamh ceann an rópa síos chuig Seamus.
En: "Here you go," said Fiona, throwing one end of the rope to Seamus.

Ga: "Beidh mé in ann tú a tharraingt aníos!
En: "I will be able to pull you up!"

Ga: "Le cúnamh Fiona agus Bridget, tháinig Seamus amach as an bpoll.
En: With the help of Fiona and Bridget, Seamus came out of the hole.

Ga: D'fhéach sé ar an leipreachán, a bhí anois ina shuí go ciúin ar chloch.
En: He looked at the leprechaun, who was now sitting quietly on a stone.

Ga: "A Sheamuis," arsa an leipreachán go cneasta, "níor cheart duit a bheith ag lorg rud nach leat.
En: "Seamus," said the leprechaun kindly, "you shouldn't be seeking what's not yours.

Ga: Ach toisc gur tháinig tú amach gan dochar, tabharfaidh mé bronntanas beag duit.
En: But because you came out unharmed, I will give you a small gift."

Ga: "Léim an leipreachán síos ón gcloch agus chuir sé cnaipe óir i lámh Sheamuis.
En: The leprechaun jumped down from the stone and placed a gold button in Seamus's hand.

Ga: "Bíodh sé seo mar chuimhneachán ort faoi cheacht an lae inniu," arsa an leipreachán.
En: "Let this be a reminder of today's adventure," said the leprechaun.

Ga: D'fhill Siobhán, Fiona agus Seamus ar ais chun na cathrach.
En: Siobhán, Fiona, and Seamus returned to the city.

Ga: Bhí siad tuirseach ach sásta.
En: They were tired but happy.

Ga: Bhí ceacht foghlamtha ag Seamus faoin tóir ar ór.
En: Seamus learned a lesson about the pursuit of gold that day.

Ga: Ón lá sin i leith, níor lorg Seamus a thuilleadh pota óir, ach d'oibrigh sé go crua agus d'éirigh leis saol sona a bheith aige lena chairde i gcathair Bhaile Átha Cliath.
En: From that day on, Seamus didn't search for any more pots of gold, but he worked hard and managed to have a happy life with his friends in Dublin City.
