Af: Die son het hoog gebrand oor die Klein Karoo.
En: The sun burned high over the Klein Karoo.

Af: Annelie was op pad na die plaaslike kafee.
En: Annelie was on her way to the local café.

Af: Dit was 'n warm dag en sy het afgesien om in die skaduwee te sit.
En: It was a hot day, and she was looking forward to sitting in the shade.

Af: Die kafee was klein, met ou houttafels en helder gordyne.
En: The café was small, with old wooden tables and bright curtains.

Af: Die geur van vars koffie het deur die lug gedryf.
En: The aroma of fresh coffee filled the air.

Af: Annelie het ingegaan.
En: Annelie walked in.

Af: Die klok bo die deur het getingel toe sy instap.
En: The bell above the door jingled as she stepped inside.

Af: “Môre, Annelie!” roep Tannie Marie.

En: “Hello, Annelie,” Johan replied with a smile as he tipped his hat.

Af: Annelie het aan haar koffie gesmul.
En: Annelie savored her coffee.

Af: Sy het gedink oor die nuwe boek wat sy by die biblioteek geleen het.
En: She thought about the new book she had borrowed from the library.

Af: Sy het daarvan gehou om onder 'n koelteboom te sit en te lees.
