L. A Guns have endured over three decades of the music industry yet are still a band at the top of the game, and, more importantly, a band that lives...
mostra másBorn into a musical era that is beyond reproach, L. A Guns started their career on the infamous Sunset Strip alongside bands such as Motley Crue, Poison and Guns N’ Roses and have lived to tell the tale.
They return with new album Renegades on November 13 with bass player Kelly Nickels sitting down with HEAVY earlier today to fill us in on the details.
"We all worked on it together last year,” he said. “It's got ten songs on it with eight rockers and two ballads. It's a good, high energy record and we're really proud of it."
Renegades was recorded late last year in unusually quick time, with Nickels laughing at the thought.
“Yeah, that's true man. We had seven days and two days to produce them and six days to record them, two days to mix them and one day to master them and that's all you get (laughs). We all had to work together on it. We did a lot of the production on files going back and forth on the computer and when we got to LA to start this and rehearse for a couple of days we were all over it and pretty familiar with the songs. Until the very end, we kept adding pieces and changing things. We worked hard on it."
In the full interview, Kelly discusses the overall sound of Renegades, not writing music for 25 years prior to this, LA Guns' writing process, the early days of the band on the Sunset Strip, the future of music and more.
